About Cumul
Based on the term coined by Louise Bourgeois, Cumul (pronounced "kuh-muhl") is a performance art duo co-founded by Sofia Varino and Gillian Sneed. Meaning "a pile, mound, or heap" in English or "an accumulation" in French, the word evokes the idea of coming together. Creating performative interventions in a variety of venues - from the stage, to the gallery, to the streets - Cumul creates performance art confronting gender, identity, the body, and desire.
